Goslin design this poster for a large pharmaceutical company (Merck) to thank employees for racing against time to combat HIV.
He shows an alarm clock running out of time, getting towards 12 o’clock. Smaller images are the HIV ribbon, award seal and pharmaceuticals used to fight HIV. Goslin also cleverly incorporated photos of a manufacturing plant and sign congratulating them on 365 days without a lost time incident.
The type in this piece is an important part of the graphic. Not used in a predictable way, across the top as a headline and subhead, but is composed as part of the art, with all the graphic elements.
Goslin was an instructor of Graphic Design and Illustration at Pratt Institute from 1966–2007. He was a highly influential instructor having taught over 1,000 students.
