Tahereh Mohebi Taban was born in 1950 in Tehran, Iran. She studied Graphic Design at the College of Decorative Art in Tehran and graduated in 1973. For the past 30 years she has been teaching Graphic Design at various educational institutions such as Azad University, Alzahra University, Miras University, Tabriz University as well as Vijeh Graphic Design Institute and Mahe-Mehr School of Art. Therefore educating many contemporary artists and graphic designers. She has also held positions as a graphic designer and art director for organizations such as Iranian Ministry of Agriculture and Iranian Ministry of Science and Technology. She has received many awards and had solo and group exhibitions internationally.  

Mohebi Taban resides in the USA and Iran and divides her time between the two locations. She is not only an avid photographer and has published a collection of her photographs but also paints in acrylics and her more recent works are done in New York. She believes that teaching and working with design clients have turned her into a runner. A happy runner whose search and discovery is her reward. As a  result of her efforts she has educated students that are imaginative, adventurers and active in the design field. What makes her mind occupied is seeing, searching and narrating the visuals to the viewers. Design is not separated from her everyday life, it is her way of thinking and doing.

طاهره محبی تابان در سال ۱۳۲۹ در تهران به دنیا آمد. او در رشته طراحی گرافیک در دانشکده هنرهای تزئینی تهران تحصیل کرد و در سال ۱۳۵۲ فارغ التحصیل شد. در  سی سال گذشته در موسسات آموزشی مختلف از جمله دانشگاه آزاد، دانشگاه الزهرا، دانشگاه میراث ، دانشگاه تبریز و همچنین گرافیک ویژه به تدریس طراحی گرافیک پرداخته است. موسسه طراحی و دانشکده هنر ماه مهر. بنابراین استاد  بسیاری از هنرمندان و طراحان گرافیک معاصر بوده است. او همچنین سمت هایی را به عنوان طراح گرافیک و مدیر هنری برای سازمان هایی مانند وزارت کشاورزی و وزارت علوم و فناوری ایران بر عهده داشته است. او جوایز زیادی دریافت کرده و نمایشگاه های انفرادی و گروهی در سطح بین المللی داشته است.

محبی تابان در ایالات متحده آمریکا و ایران زندگی  و زمان خود را بین این دو مکان تقسیم می کند. او نه تنها یک عکاس مشتاق است و مجموعه‌ای از عکس‌هایش را منتشر کرده است، بلکه بااکریلیک نقاشی می‌کند و کارهای اخیرش  را در نیویورک به وجود آورده است. او معتقد است که تدریس و کار با مشتریان طراحی، او را به یک دونده تبدیل کرده است. دونده ای شاد که جست و جو و کشف پاداش اوست.  نتیجه تلاش های او  شاگردانی نو آور، ماجراجو و فعال در زمینه طراحی هستند. چیزی که ذهن او را به خود مشغول می کند، دیدن، جستجو و روایت تصاویر برای بینندگان است. طراحی از زندگی روزمره او جدا نیست، بلکه طرز فکر و عمل اوست.
