The 1970s saw a rise in the production and advertisements of “kitchen gadgets”, or quirky kitchen tools that served a very niche purpose. This Egg Machine is an example of one of these kitchen gadgets, as it was made specifically to slice, wedge, and rosette boiled eggs. The front of the box uses photography, illustration, and typography. There is a photograph of the egg machine and a plate of eggs. The type is a fat script typeface in a bright yellow color and set at an angle. There is an illustration of an egg set behind the type. There is also a red band at the top of the box with more information about the box. One side of the box uses black and white photography to show the user how to use the product, and the other side of the box simply uses typography to share more information about the product. By looking at this product, designers today can see how photography, illustrations, and typography were all used together in the 1970s to create package designs.
