Othello Board Game

Othello board game produced by Gabriel industries in 1979. The packaging is image-heavy rather than the usual type-heavy designs from this time period. The top of the cover explains the objectives of the game using instructions and images for every step. The display type and captions are tilted to match the tilt of the image, which creates a more unified design. The word “Othello” is set in a sans-serif type with minimal kerning. The main colors used are red and green. This design brings us closer to the more maximal design of board game packaging today.
