Talon Sewing Manual

This talon sewing manual is from 1968 and included directions and tips related to the ins and outs of sewing. This manual solely displays photography and type rather than a mix of illustration. During this time, much graphic design was moving towards the use of photography rather than illustration.  In fact, full bleed photography was becoming widely used in many fashion magazines. The bold image on the front of the booklet likely appealed to women interested in high fashion communicating elegance and luxury. The typeface used is a serif typeface that looks similar to Bodoni or Didot and is a bold red. These manuals were likely mass produced and found in many American households, used by women who enjoyed fashion and sewing.
