This 45rpm vinyl sleeve was produced from 1976-1989 as part of a wave of re-released singles from RCA's catalogue of Elvis Presley's discography.
It is the 4th design of the Gold Standard Series, the first one having been released in 1958.
This is an example of a “company sleeve,” manufactured in bulk, in which the design is not indicative of the specific track inside.
The sleeve is associated with the '70s black and red LP labels. In this example, it contains a red label with the single, “Don't Be Cruel,” and “Hound Dog,” which was recorded in 1956.
The bright primary colors of blue and yellow along with the whimsical flow of the “GOLD” type is exemplary of 1970s graphic design. The interior pop of red makes the whole unit visually enticing for a collection.
The bold, blocky lettering of the RCA logotype was used from 1968-1987.
