Marvel Studios was founded in 1993 by Avi Arad and Toy Biz, though it would soon be handed over to the Walt Disney Company in 2009. Marvel’s films have their origins in the epic superheroes of Marvel Comics which started in 1939. This clip is their first production logo that debuted with the release of Spider-Man in 2002. Imaginary Forces created the animation as a flipbook of comic pages to pay homage to the company’s origins. As a multi-billion-dollar company today, Marvel has teams of designers who have since upgraded their logo and branding, but their early visual identity will always remain an icon of the 2000s. It is the mark of the beginning of what would become the captivating Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
