Mad Men is an American TV drama set in the 1960s about an executive at a New York ad agency. The show ran from 2007-2015 and remained faithful to this title sequence across all seven seasons. The animation was created by Steve Fuller and Mark Gardner and was so successful it received an Emmy in 2008. Many have falsely associated the figure’s jump with the escaping victims of 9/11, but that was never the inspiration. The idea was dreamed up by Matthew Weiner, the show’s creator, who imagined a series of events following a man into his office and out the building window. Without depicting anything specific about the series, this animation successfully captures its essence of the drama through the spiraling experience of a man trapped within his own dream.
