This Nov. 1980 edition of Life with Archie features the storylines “Tinkling Tones of Treachery” and "In Good Taste!" Archie comics have been running in publication since 1942. However, Archie and his friends appeared on television in 1968 when CBS began airing “The Archie Show” as part of their Saturday morning cartoon lineup. This edition of Life with Archie advertises other cartoons featured by CBS broadcasting including Tom and Jerry, Popeye, Lone ranger, and more. Many comic books of this time period were predominately superheroes and villains (Marvel and DC) so Archie and his friends were in a completely different genre.
The comic includes bright vibrant colors, popular in the 80s and good for attracting attention on comic book shelves. The comic has a few ad breaks within the storylines featuring ads for bodybuilding, binoculars, and more. These ads including high-contrast black-and white photography accompanied by a form to fill out to contact or purchase the advertised product/service.
