National Geographic Membership Mailer
This is a National Geographic membership envelope from the May 1994 national geographic magazine. The envelope is an example of the change that occurred to the design of the mailer in the magazine from the yellow and white attached mailer to a bright blue envelope. The envelope looks like a trifold, but is just folded in half by a flap on the envelope. The front of the envelope features the iconic yellow border logo as well as yellow and white serif typography. The diagonal type on the front of the envelope is reminiscent of the New Typography movement that has carried on into 1994. Today, mailers are not widely used because of the development of technology, so graphic design in this sphere had a very clear development and change.
