Hard Rock Florence “David” Enamel Pin

This pin was by the design team for the Hard Rock Hotel and Restaurant establishments.  The Hard Rock in Florence, Italy opened in 2011,  and this rare pin was designed in celebration of its opening.  The restaurant is centrally located in. the Florence city center, nearby many of the most famous attractions of the city

This pin a rendition on David by Michelangelo, but holding a guitar, because the renowned sculpture, which resides in Florence,  remains one of the most famous attractions in the city.  David, one of the most famous marble statues from history, was sculpted in the early 1500s.  So, juxtaposing the centuries old statue with the modern electric guitar provides an interesting and comedic rendition of this statue.  This is important to design history because it shows the cross-cultural collaboration of a significant piece of art history, and puts it into a marketing environment but adding text and an additional element.
