American Heart Association Planning Fat-Controlled Meals

8

This pamphlet published by the American Heart Association provides guidelines to the American public on meals and dietary recommendations for a total of 1200-1800 calories. This pamphlet was produced in a series including the 1200-1800 calorie and 2000-2600 calorie plans. This booklet was given to patients via request by a physician, dietitian, or other professionals.  The booklet contains a limited color palette, this version of the AHA Meals pamphlet being printed in black and orange/red.  The cover and throughout the book feature simple line illustrations of cookware, foods, and ingredients.

This booklet was seen as the guidelines for a healthy American diet during the 1960s and is interesting to see how dietary trends have shifted since then.
