1966 book cover design of popular Japanese literature oriented at adult female audiences by author and playwright  Takeuchi Ken. The book is the first of four in the “For Ladies” series of fantasy books, followed by The Scariest Story in the World: The Rose Devil (1968), The Strangest Story in the World: The Rose Demigod (1969), and The Loneliest Story in the World: Burial of Roses (1970). Author Takeuchi and designer Uno Akira were active participants in the nascent Tokyo angura underground theater scene.
