During a time when color photography was becoming popular in graphic design, Ishioka designed an advertisement for the Shiseido’s "Honey Cake" soap that featured a bar of soap cut by a knife that looked like a shining gem. Instead of using Art Nouveau-style illustrations, which was the traditional style for Shiseido, she opted for a photograph of the product as the main focus. This approach was unconventional because cosmetic products were typically presented as spotless objects, but Ishioka's decision to highlight the soap's texture by cutting it with a knife produced a vivid and hyper-realistic image that was new to Japan at that time.
