International Canvas Furniture Design Competition Poster 1973

10

A poster created by Eiko Ishioka for the International Canvas Furniture Design Competition in 1973, organized by Taiyo Kogyo Corporation.  She chose to cover a close friend of hers, Saiko Arai,  a well-known dancer, in blue fabric, which Tomoko Yabumae, curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo says, “clearly illustrates her lifelong design interest in drawing out the body’s eroticism within the context of restrained expression.”
