This issue of Game Hihyou, a Japanese video game magazine, was published in March 2003 by Micro Magazine. As the name suggests, it is a magazine that reviews and critiques video games. The initial aim of the magazine was to keep reviews neutral, only reviewing games after completion, and refusing to take advertisements from video game companies (this would later change, but remains the case for this volume).
The cover uses sans-serif fonts, and toned-down, minimalist colors, which contrasts with the bold video game sprite in the middle. The sprite breaks out of the assumed grid system, putting itself in front of the text, and appearing to break out of the page.
