Set of Four, The Corn Butter, Stainless Steel

8

This Corn Butter Stainless Steel set is important to graphic design history through its evolution of product design and packaging design. It is a primary example of how packaging and product design has drastically changed into what it is today. Packaging today is less illustrative and more typography based. This product was designed in Japan by Viking Importrade Incorporation in 1966. The packaging has a beautiful cartoon illustration of corn and the product being advertised, corn butter spreader. The typography is a combination of sans-serif and slab-serif. This helps designers to understand and learn a lot by comparing the old with the new.
