Shurei Gate restoration Commemorative Stamp

10

It was issued in 1958, marking the completion of Shuri Castle's Shurei Gate, which had been under restoration for years. This commemorates the restoration of the Shurei Gate, which was designated as a National Treasure and one of the prides of Okinawan architecture, with the efforts of the Cultural Property Protection Committee and donations from the general public. The value was originally 4 yen, but it was changed to 3 cents due to the rate change, and so it was remade. The number of copies issued was 1.5 million.
