This newspaper focused on highlighting the voices of the black community of Charlotte. Weekly issues from the 70s and 80s connected people from all over Charlotte and North Carolina. The imagery on the front page features a man holding a newspaper with the headline "Black Press: The Voice of Our Own". This paper emphasized the importance of community and shared values. This is illustrated through their use of imagery and typography.
