Last image shows how different cassettes required major reformatting due to dimension differences. In this case, the LP cover is scaled down and the title is repeated below. The spine utilizes a totally different typeface pairing. This is due to a template required by labels early on in cassette artwork. See comment below by designer, for specifics.

Regarding the cassette formatting – you are correct. That early design was a template. Very standard cover artwork representation (a “mini”) and the spine type and back flap were templated to make sure the name and title stood out in racks. These templates would later be discarded in favor of more elaborate artist-specific designs created by the album cover designers.
