Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Official Circus Route Book 1961

The Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Official Circus Route Book 1961, and other Circus Route books, are books that would be published after the season would come to an end and would detail the shows, places of performances, and more of the season.

The Special Collections at Milner Library at ISU states,

“The terminology used to describe circus act types and performance act names have changed greatly over the past two centuries. While these descriptions are often offensive and no longer acceptable today, the historical language has been transcribed in its original form in order to accurately convey past ideologies and reveal past experiences. The collection contains depictions of people representative of the cultural context in which these circus route books were created.”
