This program was distributed in March of 1962 at the 26th annual Gamma Phi Circus Show at the McCormick Gym at Illinois State University. The Gamma Phi Circus began as an honorary gymnastic fraternity in 1928, and has been presenting exhibitions to the public ever since. Since 1930, annual shows have been put on by the circus and this paper program was created to showcase the circus's 1962 performance. It is printed in a single shade of blue and contains information on the year's officers (p. 2) and committees (p. 3), the official event program (p. 4-5), the history of the organization (p. 6), and contains a collection of images of the performers (p. 7-8) . The cover of the program is hand-drawn and displays an illustration of a circus elephant and gives information on the location and date of the event . The somewhat crude nature of the pamphlet could be attributed to the fact that the organization was self-supporting and the direction of the circus run by student officers. The highlighted acts of this show include a revolving ladder balancing act, a tight-wire walking act, and a specialized act titled “The Foot Revolve”. Any student from any field of study was eligible for membership in the circus. The 1962 show included, for example, business, French, art, special education, mathematics, music, and more.
