In a time when histories are being removed, hidden, and made illegal to teach in schools, your support for The People’s Graphic Design Archive is more important than ever. This is your archive and survives on your support.

Grand Rapids Engraving Co. Ads

The ad boasts that the engraving company can translate illustrations or make ‘cuts’ for catalogs, books, souvenirs, newspapers, letterheads and more.

What is unusual about this ad is that it features a photograph of a Black boy in a magazine that is not specifically produced by and for the Black community.

This ad was found at the back of Inland Printer, v.17 (1896:Apr.-Sept.)
