Park 'N Shop

This is a 1951 shopping ad for the Park 'N Shop grocery store in Charlotte, NC.

Charles Reid opened the first Park 'N Shop in Charlotte in 1950. His labeled his new business a "wonder store," and boasted super low prices and acres of parking. The use of the automobile was on the rise leading to an increasingly large number of mobile Charlotteans, so a spacious parking lot was a selling point to customers.

Reid eventually turned his one store into a chain of ten stores during the 1950s and 1960s. The last store closed its doors in 2004, but the building still remains and has been redeveloped into an office space.
