Abduction of Charlie Brewster Ross

4

This is one of the first wanted posters recorded in history. Photo shows a head-and-shoulders portrait in an oval of Charley Brewster Ross attached to a handbill announcing the particulars of his abduction and of the reward offered. On the verso are a description of Charley and of the kidnappers. The broadside was issued by Pinkerton's National Detective Agency.  It is currently held at the Library of Congress
