The New York Times Book Review with Illustrations by Chris Ware, June 3, 2001

25

I first encountered the work of Chris Ware as a student at School of Visual Arts. His dedication to his chosen art form and the quest(obsession) for excellence(exactitude) were an instant draw, but I was also deeply affected by the gripping sadness of his cast of characters.

While his work can now often be found on the covers of The New Yorker, there was a period when he was a regular on the pages of the weekend New York Times, including this Book Review: Summer Readings edition from 2001.
