In this particular poster (the back page of the Black Panther newspaper), created in 1969, Douglas aimed to represent the women who he said are a "reflection of the party." These women went to jail and were in leadership roles, and they started chapters and branches of the Black Panther Party as well. Douglas states that "women were an integral part of those movements so all that played into how I expressed them in my own artwork."
