1988 Wiinblad Paralympic Games Seoul

This is the first time I have this poster in my shop - and what at great piece of dynamic artwork by Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad. The poster reminds me of his circus advertisements known as "Fratelli Spassosi". Wiinblad wrote on this poster: "Olympics for the disabled" but today we know the games "Paralympic Games" and the graphical design is made of three racing athletes in wheelchairs. The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line. The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special. Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is (among other museums) represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Please note: The poster was made in 1987 - one year before the games. ------------------------------------------------------ Artist: Bjørn Wiinblad (Signed and dated in print by Wiinblad) Print: Offset lithography Dimensions: 24.4 x 33.5 in (62.5 x 85 cm) Condition: Very good condition - very light signs of handling - please see pictures.
