Paul Davis' art was plastered all over the New York subway to advertise the presentation of this choreopoem at The Booth Theater. The design was used for playbills like this one, book covers, and posters. Davis' design is a tromp l'ceil presenting Shange's portrait in front of subway tile, with the name of the theater rendered in mosaic similar to some subway station labels, and colorful graffiti. "Filled with passion, humor, and raw honesty, legendary playwright/poet Ntozake Shange’s form-changing choreopoem tells the stories of seven women of color using poetry, song, and movement. With unflinching honesty and emotion, each woman voices her survival story of having to exist in a world shaped by sexism and racism." (playbill.com)
