Charlotte Sanitorium Postcard

2
A 1909 postcard with a colorized photograph of The Charlotte Sanitorium. The image depicts the new hospital seeming to be bustling with life. The hospital was one of the first in the state privately owned by thirty Doctors and surgeons. Boasting five stories, one hundred beds and state of the art fireproof infrastructure. It functioned from 1907 to 1942. On the upper right sides was the newly dubbed North Carolina State Toast, written by Leonora Monteiro Martin and made popular by Rev. Walter W. Moore in 1904.
