GAS-DVD was one of GAS's diffusion labels under their GASPROJECT network. They primarily worked in print at the time as GASBOOK which was a magazine that gave underground artists a platform and was sold at museums and art-book stores worldwide. GAS-DVD was obviously a DVD label based out of japan which released audiovisual works by experimental designers, musicians and film makers. This was the first of two collaborations between Paul White's MeCompany and GAS-TV, the second being released in 2004. This specific DVD was released in 2002 and animated by Paul White in 2001. It featured an animation of a blob typeface MeCompany created, and was an early example of the kinetic typography of the Y2K era of design. With the backgrounds in motion, Paul White shows how taking a flat typeface and throwing it into the 3D realm creates an interesting dichotomy previously unexplored as this technology was still young. The DVD also features an interview with Paul White and his design partner. Animated in August 2001.
