Karuizawa Museum of Photography
This work is a poster for the Karuizawa Museum of Photography (旧軽井沢写真美術館) designed by Katsuhiko Shibuya 澁谷克彦 in 1992, which won the Gold Prize in the general category at the Tokyo TDC Awards. It uses letters to abstractly represent the museum built in the quiet forest, and the "aura of the past" inherent in the vintage prints stored there. The letters occupying the most part of the poster evokes the trees and light of a forest, and the "KMP" mark represents the camera itself.
Katsuhiko is a graphic designer who worked primarily within Shiseido’s advertising department. Other than this poster, he also received the 14th Yusaku Kamekura Award for his "SHISEIDO" image poster (2011) too.
