Yoshitaka Amano, a well renowned character designer, graphic designer, and illustrator who worked with Tatsunoko Production and Square Enix. He was the main character and concept designer for the video game Final Fantasy produced by Square Enix. For this title screen, he worked in partnership with influential graphic designer Kazuko Shibuya to help turn his abstract concepts into characters and fonts that can be used in-game. They created a cutom typeface called “Highwind” seen throughout the game franchise in 1991. This title logo is particularly significant because it changed the Final Fantasy game franchises reputation from the pixel-art style to the more complex 3D model characters, typefaces, and backgrounds that we know today.
