The weekly shonen jump is a very popular manga magazine that shows weekly serialized new chapters of Japanese manga that are meant to target young teen males. The issue No. 21-22-2010 (週刊少年ジャンプ 2010年21・22合併号) is a specific issue that was made to celebrate the ending of the Marineford (Summit War) arc in Eiichiro Oda's (尾田 栄一郎) anime One Piece. The cover art was shown on May 10, 2010, while the release date for stores was on April 26, 2010. The cover itself was drawn by many mangaka, specifically drawing their characters with a twist to represent that main theme of this issue. The main centerpiece of the cover is of course the main character of the One Piece anime, Monkey D. Luffy, alongside many other main characters of different anime like Naruto, Bleach, and Gintama. What is different about the characters though is that they were drawn with specific character motifs from the one piece anime/Marineford arc to reflect the war and i=the emotional impact of the arc itself. The typography on the front mostly celebrates the ending of the arc in One Piece, but it also highlights other series like Naruto and Gintama. The choice of font isn't a design choice, but rather the font of most if not all shonen jump magazine covers.
