Pokémon Platinum or the Japanese version, Poketto Monsutā Purachina (ポケットモンスター プラチナ), and its predecessors Diamond and Pearl were all designed and drawn by Ken Sugimori. (杉森 建. ) Released in Japan on September 13, 2008, and being released in America on March 22, 2009, the American cover is very different from Diamond and Pearl. The cover itself shows off a different variant of the Pokémon itself, while also showing off a different style and color usage on each cover. Platinum version usage of black, red, and white colors represent chaos, energy, and alternate dimensions as the main concept of Platinum version. The text of “PLATINUM VERSION” on the cover has a sort of metallic font to also show off the theme of the game names being precious metals.
