Kazumasa Nagai 永井一正 designed this poster, and Kenzo Nakagawa 中川健三 produced it for the Tokyo National Museum 東京国立博物館's 2014 “Japan National Treasures Exhibition: The Power of Prayer and Belief”.
Driven by their creative concept of “unexpected collaborations between national treasures from different eras”, Nippon Design Center produced this poster of the “Jomon Venus” clay figure riding the Tokyo National Museum's Fugen Bosatsu (Samantabhadra) elephant for the museum's official shop.
Kazumasa Nagai 永井一正 was born in Osaka in 1929, dropped out of the Sculpture Department of Tokyo University of the Arts in 1951, and, 9 years later, helped establish the Nippon Design Center in 1960. Nagai 永井一正's design philosophy emphasizes sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing.
Kenzo Nakagawa 中川健三 was born in Osaka in 1947. He graduated from Osaka Municipal Kogei High School, Department of Design, in 1966. He joined Nippon Design Center in 1975, 15 years after Nagai helped establish it. Nakagawa 中川健三's works are influenced by the philosophy of “design that makes life more enjoyable” (PLAT website)
