Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin (機動戦士ガンダム THE ORIGIN) manga was created and illustrated by the character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (安彦 良和), who was the original designer for Mobile Suit Gundam anime. This manga along with the other two books that ran alongside the first were published through June 25, 2001 - June 25, 2011. They were published and serialized through the Gundam Ace magazine in Japan, and in the English version was published through NA: Viz Media formerly and then published through Vertical Inc currently. The origin cover utilizes the characters and Gundam that play a primary role in the manga to convey more emotional depth for the manga, primarily utilizing the characters of the manga instead of the Gundam. While also using heavy brushstroke watercolor instead of a digital format to give it an organic and original feeling.
