MOTHER Famicom package (1989)
MOTHER Famicom package, 1989. Designed by Masaharu Takata for Nintendo, this package uses a red background and a gold title without character illustrations. Nintendo released the role-playing game in Japan on July 27, 1989. In a 2022 interview, Takata explained that the design emphasized the title and the game’s story. The red and gold combination was also compared to chocolate packaging.
