Ikko Tanaka's Nihon Buyo is a 1981 poster based on traditional Japanese dance. It shows a woma's face and upper body, instead of making her realistically, Tanaka builds the figure from simple geometric shapes and blocks of bright color. This mix of old and new was a big part of Tanaka's work. He often took ideas from Japanese traditions, including theatre, calligraphy, and other art forms, and combine them in a simplistic geometrical modern graphic designs.
