Promotional poster created for Carnaval 2000, an event organized by the Círculo Cubano de Puerto Rico (Casa Cuba) in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.
The central image combines two references associated with Cuban culture: tobacco and music. A cigar forms the body of a conga drum, accompanied by the phrase “Cuba es Música” (“Cuba Is Music”). The composition uses a predominantly red field with a radial lighting effect that draws attention to the central image.
The poster announces the event held on April 8–9, 2000, at 8:00 p.m. at Casa Cuba in Isla Verde. The original printed piece also preserves a visual record of the event sponsors.
Produced as an offset-printed poster, the piece documents cultural-event graphic design and advertising produced in Puerto Rico at the beginning of the 2000s.
