[History Student Work] Call for Criticism: Massimo Vignelli and the Value of Design Critique

This booklet examines Massimo Vignelli's ideas about criticism and its importance within graphic design. Using Vignelli's historical work and design philosophy as a starting point, the project considers how constructive criticism helps designers move beyond personal taste and make more intentional decisions. It also connects Vignelli's ideas to contemporary design, including social media, digital design, and artificial intelligence. By combining historical imagery with contemporary examples, the booklet argues that while the tools used to create graphic design continue to change, thoughtful human judgment and criticism remain essential to meaningful visual communication.
