The VAIO logo was created for Sony’s personal computer brand, announced in Japan on June 3rd, 1997. The logo uses the letters V-A-I-O, but the shape also carries extra meaning. The VA side looks like an analog wave, while the IO side looks like the numbers 1 and 0.
The logo was designed by Teiyu Goto, a designer at Sony Creative Center who worked on the VAIO brand concept, name, logo, and product design.
