Cherry Bomb (2015)

5

Album covers tend to be an overlooked form of design. The Grammys only just created a category in 2026 to highlight the best album covers of the year.  The crossover of music artist and designer is something that tends to be ignored and overlooked. While lots of music artists have designers that work on these covers, some tend to be a huge part of the creative process and or are the creator of the album cover themselves.  It is important to understand the crossover of designers and music artists, in this day, one cannot fully exist without the other.

Cherry Bomb takes a new direction, with a hand written font. Tyler also draws on top of an image of him, a pink hue on his skin with a wrinkled body. The eyes are large and his mouth is wide. This album cover is a lot more playful than the past few. This is the first and only time Tyler tried this approach with his album covers. Cherry Bomb is written in red with black outlines and a yellow 3D layered effect.

The second album cover is a photo taken by Mark Peckmezian, it features a pair of jeans with a piss stain on the crotch. The person is holding a cigarette and has two different colored hands. On his left hand there is a tiny little “Cherbum”, the name of the character on the original album cover, that shows the viewer which album this is without having the name of it on top of the image.
