Design for hardcore/adjacent albums are often overlooked or even dismissed by the general public, mostly because of their chaotic, overwhelming style and music that’s involved. Designs such as these are very underrepresented in the archive at this moment, it’s important to include these works because of the rich history behind the scene surrounding them. 

Released on May 6, 1996, Electriclarryland is Butthole Surfers seventh studio release. Originally depicted on page 148 of Church of the SubGenius’ Revelation X: The "Bob" Apocryphon, this illustration by Paul Mavrides depicts a pencil stabbing into an ear. In relation to the album, this symbolizes a ‘hardcore’ or jarring auditory experience.
