Tadanori Yokoo’s Kimono Shop is a vibrant, collage-like poster that blends traditional Japanese imagery with psychedelic color and pop culture references. Reflecting postwar Japanese identity and culture, the work challenges the idea of neutrality in graphic design, showing how visuals can be expressive, personal, and rooted in specific cultural contexts. It challenges dominant visual languages and expands what graphic design is allowed to be.
