Imprenta Enlance Posters

3

Imprenta Enlance is a print shop in Xalapa, Veracruz in Mexico. It has been run by the Romero family since 1988, known for their typographic and illustrated broadside posters. This company is the last of its kind in the region and one of the very few community-operated commercial printing companies of its kind in the country.

Veracruz is known for its lively culture, a state of mostly indigenous, Afro-American, and mestizo communities. The events that Imprenta Enlance are sometimes religious festivals, Lucha libre, and other amateur sports, as those are important to the culture of the region, though events they advertise are extremely ecclectic.

As said by the American Printing History Association, “Imprenta Enlace’s posters belong to the street; they come to life in the eyes of passers-by and instill satisfaction in those who commission them. The success of the Romero family´s print shop is due to their love for letterpress, their people, music, and traditions. The endearing aesthetic of their posters will connect with different generations and audiences for many years to come.”
