Edward Kauffer was a prominant figure in the London graphic design in the early 1900's. The two posters shown here emphasized his artistic style. He hand painted a lot of his works which allowed for a more personalized touch. It almost just looked like his initial intention was to make it look like a painting to catch the viewers attention then add the text as a secondary subject.
