Fortnum and Mason Royal Blend Tea Tin

1

This tea tin was a part of the 2013 Fortum and Mason brand redesign done by DECIDE and Peter Windett Associates. The redesign was in part to reinforce Fortnum and Mason’s authority in premium tea and its quintessential Englishness. The new design was meant to be more readable and organized than previous ones. Each range of teas had its own signature design style and the Famous Teas range was color-coded to the type of blend. This light blue design is now associated with luxury English tea.

These metal tins and the graphic design on them are still in use though now paperboard boxes and simpler designs done by Peter Windett Associates are more prevalent in the store’s catalogue.

This and most of the other tin designs used embossing and print finishes to replicate the look of classic Georgian designs. These tins are durable and function well as collectibles and trinket holders long after the tea has been used up.
