Megadeth "Peace Sells… but Who's Buying?"

8

Megadeth’s 1986 album Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? was created by artist Ed Repka and is considered a milestone in thrash metal artwork. It shows a detailed, apocalyptic illustration centered around the band's mascot, Vic Rattlehead. The band’s skeletal mascot is portrayed as a smug, suit-wearing real estate agent.  The artwork was designed to match the album's cynical, anti-authoritarian, and socially conscious lyrical themes.

The album is a landmark in thrash metal, significant for shifting the genre toward intellectual, politically charged themes while challenging media stereotypes of metal fans. It cemented Megadeth’s place in the "Big Four" and showcased complex, technically proficient songwriting.
