Designer Ueno, Naohiro, born in Hiroshima in 1965, graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts at Kyoto Seika University. Some of his main works are posters and magazine illustrations. This cover belongs to the late 1990s Japanese tech-media design boom, when magazines were key platforms to introduce rapidly evolving technology to consumers. Ueno played with different typographic layering also a layout that could also be an infographic; giving excitement to readers. This is a good example of how Japan visualized and marketed the mobile revolution before the smartphone era.
